Role Summary
Provide high level technical advice and support to all areas of the business highlighting and investigating risk for both the clients and the business.
Responsible for seeking out business development opportunities for the Private Client, Funds and Corporate areas of the Jersey business.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively liaise with other Directors and the Senior Management team
- Proactively identify planning & project opportunities on existing client base within client knowledge, structuring ideas and understanding of current UK legislation to generate additional fee income
- Manage resources so that they act as central point of reference for staff and clients on complex tax technical and procedural queries/problems/proposals, with final approval being undertaken by the Executive Director
- Manage resources to ensure effective implementation of new plans and to oversee the process
- Identify and implement new procedures to improve efficiency of the group in regard to tax / technical matters
- Seek and build new client relationships, representing both own specialist unit and the group where appropriate, to develop new business opportunities
- Lead and motivate staff, gaining their commitment and enthusiasm to the achievement of unit objectives
- Gain thorough understanding of products operated by the group and offer to potential new clients
- Ensure all staff are trained, developed and appraised effectively on technicalissues within existing products and administration of any new products
- Maintain contact with key clients/intermediaries on a regular basis
- Monitor prospects and develop new leads to create more business for group
- Attend signing sessions to proactively ensure understanding of key issues and standards of signing quality are adhered to
- Proactively develop new business relationships by seeking out business development opportunities, including business travel to London
- Responsible for the running of new business relationships.
Board Responsibilities
- Determining the company’s strategic objectives and policies
- Accounting for the company’s activities to relevant parties
- Manage and oversee risks assigned as per theEnterprise Risk Statement
- Board member; to participate in the running of the business at board level
- Appointing senior management
- Ensuring the business is undertaken in such manner to meet all legal and regulatory requirements, instilling a culture of compliance across the business
Key Competences / Skills / Experience / Behaviours Required
- Relevant professional qualification
A minimum of ten years’ experience in a similar relevant capability with a particular focus on Private Clients - A good understanding of Jersey statutory laws and other related legal and regulatory requirements for example
- Anti-Money Laundering laws
- Proven experience within a similar role with excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
- At least three years’ experience acting on client entity boards
